Léon Charles CANNICCIONI (1879-1957) Portrait of painter Théophile Tellier in Porto-Vecchio, Corsica. Oil on card. Dated 1926. Signed and dedicated lower left: "To my friend T. Tellier in memory of your stay in Porto-Vecchio." 35 x 26 cm. In a fine gilded wood frame carved with water leaves. Size with frame: 51 x 43.5 cm. Eugène Théophile TELLIER (1872-1958) was a French painter whose works were exhibited at the Salon de la Nationale and the Salon des artistes Indépendants. He sent works related to Corsica, which he visited during his sojourns from the 1920s to 1951. He befriended Léon CANNICCIONI, whose work he sometimes borrowed. Here, the continental painter is represented by his friend, during an aperitif by the sea in Porto-Vecchio, in a gentle atmosphere of springtime relaxation.
