Joseph ALBRIER (1791-1863), after. Portrait of the Marquise de Montesson (1738-1806). Oil on copper. Inscribed on the back "Marquise de Montesson". 28 x 24 cm. Original gilded and carved wood frame decorated with scrolls and concretions. Size with frame: 47 x 32.5 cm. The Marquise de MONTESSON, , was a French woman of letters and aristocrat renowned for her lively wit and taste for the arts. She secretly married the Duc d'Orléans, uncle of Louis XVI, becoming one of the most influential social figures of the 18th century. Provenance: Osenat Fontainebleau sale, July 7, 2024, lot 143.
