Letter from Brigadier Prosper Sionville to Captain Ciacaldi, - Lot 103
Letter from Brigadier Prosper Sionville to Captain Ciacaldi, from Bocognano, May 10, 1772. This very interesting letter bears witness to the repression carried out by the French after Ponte Novu. In it, Sionville informs Captain Ciacaldi that he has had two men, Arnold and Leone, arrested and imprisoned for being "the cause of all the evil done by the murderous thieves of Bocognano, i.e. those who burned the mills and houses around Ajaccio". In his own words, the latter has "crime in his heart". Finally, Sionville confides his fear of seeing the bandits who are currently on the Afa side move into the Fiumorbu. He also mentions the "bandits of Niolo, of Cinarca". It would also be necessary to multiply the number of spies in the area. A very fine piece concerning the Ajaccio region. 1 p., in-4° folded format.
